Who has the best price/quality for an '86 'glass hood? Found one at www.up22.com ,part #GM 328t for $240 + $115 shipping. Anyone use these before? I like the looks and weight just unsure of quality.

I don't think the best price and quality go together.

If you want good quality you can't go wrong with Glasstek in Illinois. Very happy with their products on my street/drag car.

I just called glasstek and they said the stock pin on hoods way about 18-20 lbs and shipping to Kansas City would be about $85-$90. If he is correct that means his hood is about 10 lbs. lighter than the up22 hood. I don't know what would be stronger but my money would be on the on the one with more weight. Although I can't find a stock height hood on us22 so that may have something to do with the weight. I may see if my ol' lady won't let me order one of these down the road.

Why do you want a glass hood??? I had an Ulimited Performance (up22)m hood on a Camaro once. It was junk. I'd stick with steel.

One of the few "legal" mods that we are allowed to do on a street class boggin' truck to help lighten the load. May just cut/bolt on 'glass scoop.

I want one for the weight savings. If I take off my hood, hinges, springs, latch, cable, etc. and then pin on a glass hood I will be removing probably around 60-70 lbs from the front of my rig. (that's a guess)

I have decided to go with a glass hood aswell. I wanted to narrow the front but I have decided to just keep the stock width and go glass. I'm going with a Goodmark hood.

http://usbodysource.com makes glass hoods.

I have an entire fiberglass K5 body tub from them, pretty good quality.
IIRC, they have ultralight (for mudder/pre-runner...etc) and heavy duty (thicker, re-inforced) hoods.
