less weight is always a good thing. =p Does anyone know where I could find a fiberglass hood for my 85 for less than $450? Seems like when I see them, and its rare, they are HELLA spendy. Whats up with that?

if you remove some of the bracing and the springs, add a prop rod(pain sometimes to use but hey) and hood pins then you can get almost the same weight.
try here they might have one for a good price. i have seen a few of thier hoods, i like them. clean and crisp.
good quality for the ones i have seen

I got a fiberglass hood for my Chevelle for $300 from GlassTek, (630)978-9897. My brother works for Team Performance he helped to get the price down. PM me if you want to get hold of my brother.

It's a wheelbase thing, you wouldn't understand.

Here are some off-road 'glass companies:

Try Unlimited. I think they have them for 300 bucks.

just lots more work when you rub a rock.
i do fiberglass on H/uH-1N (helicopter) from time to time. i dont mind doing it. matter of fact i like it. but i would hate to re-glass the side of my blazer. i would rather cut and weld something like that.

One neat thing I did find on that site was a fiberglass half cab for the 73, 74, or 75 Blazers. I didn't think anyone still made those...

$800 though so I guess you really gotta want one.

It's good you mentioned seeing that there. I looked at their page a year ago or so and didn't see it before. It's nice to know I can find a replacement for mine if need be

Cheaper than the other company that used to sell them too.

yeah, rocks and fiberglass DONT mix...then again, if rocks are rubbing on top of my hood, I prolly have more problems than replacing a body panel. Avalanche or rolling...either way. ;)
