I know me personally, I have been thinking about how to Mount a roof basket to the top of my blazer. Here is a simple Step by Step How to For it.
Keep in mind i am still a *Newbie* on the Site so i gotta get some posts up before it will let me post pictures.
Step one- Go to a Junk yard find a Late 80's Early 90's Jeep with a steel roof rack on it (Will post pictures when i get the posts). Pull the roof rack off (Should be about 12 Torx Bolts
Step Two- cut about 8-9" off one end of the two bars that bolt too the roof.
Step Three- Build the Roof Rack and Temporarily set it on the top of the roof (**keep in mind this is much easier to do with the top off.**) and center it. It should come about 1/4 of an inch away from the front of the Top and about 1 inch from rear and have = amount of space on both sides.
Step Four- Tape Rack to roof (To prevent it from moving) and drill holes with a 1/4 inch bit. (I will update the thread tomorrow on actual sizes of bits and screws and bolts and washers.)
Step Five go to Your local hardware shop and get some, and this is where i will update tomorrow. 6/23/10
