This weekend is Field Day.
For those who dont know, this is a US wide, 24 hour emergency communication drill. There will be several weenies setting up radio stations at local parks, campgrounds, etc operating on emergency power and talking (contesting) with other Hams nation wide. This is a great way to see the many different aspects of Ham radio and a chance to operate at most locations. Emergency Communications is one or the Main aspects of Amateur Radio that everyone should become familiar with.

I wanted to make it out to my clubs activities , about 100 miles away , with my Dad .

Well we went to HRO to get some insulators , and couple other supplies . Then come home to go over my 10 meter mobile to see what was up ( father in law said it sounded crappy ) and the radio was fine ( father in law needs to read his manual :wink1: ) . So you'd think we would leave .

Well one thing led to another , and we worked on a few other radios , and I did some tweaking on the roof to my antenna ( more wire , raided a little higher ... again ) . By the time I realized what time it was , we just went and got some Chinees food and came right back to working on stuff .

Oh well , we were practicing skills at least today :thumb:
