Figuring out someone elses mess.

pauly he is posting a for sale add he found.

Sounds like someone built a sas newer chevy and is pulling its axles out.

For the front, the perches are where they are and i doubt were moved by any means. For the rear te spring perches can be moved reasonably easy and welded back on. If you were to buy these axles and the rear spring perches were not right you could undertake the job your self, or a place that does trailer repair could do it.

Trailer repair/main shops work with rewelding on new perches or moving them to do a spring over quite often.

So what you are saying is with a lil modification i could use them? correct. i just didnt know woth them being off a ford if the spring perches would be set up for coil springs or what> so is 500 bones a good price from what you can tell by the description. Brutal honesty is alwayse appreciated!!!

I was remarking about this line :

ok dumb question would a axle that has been set up to go under a 1988 to 1998 chevy z71 be able to go under my 77 k5?

Since I own a 93 pickup and 99 Sub , I knew about the width and shock mounts . And thats what I answered .

It could fit , with moving the perches , but your steering will be a little wider with the rear of the rig the same width as your front now . Remember the 73-91 K5's had a wider front than rear .

44 and rear dana 60, 79' model ford 3/4 ton axles that have been moded to fit under 1988 to 1998 chevy z71. these axles were modified to fit the 88 to 98 chevy but they are off of a 79 ford 3/4 ton thats what concernes me.

i had to move the truck a lil bout 20 feet with it in hi transfer and hubs locked with the np 203 its full time 4 wheel and if i un lock the hubs it dont go just makes a wierd noise.

If some one already commented on this I missed it. With a 203, unless it has been converted to part time, the hubs have to be locked for the truck to move.

you told me on my psst to report back about my gearing, the front axle gm 10 bolt was 7 3/8 drijshaft revolutions for 2 full tire rotations, the dana 60 rear was the same 7 3/8 to 2 revolutions also do the axles have vent tubes on them? :doah:

then your gearing is 3.73 to1.not too bad.i started out with that gearing stock also.when i went 3/4 ton i just changed the front to 4.10 to match the rear.for 35 inch tires that was all i needed since i have a 465 manual.that gearing should be fine to run as long as something else isnt wrong.:eek1:
