hey when i get to driving my truck again i would like to linex or herculiner the inside. and the bottom of the doors. the previous owner cut big holes in the door to put speakers in. What is the best way to cover them? theres gonna be linex sprayed over top of it so it doesnt have to look pretty, just 3/4 decent.:wink1:. also if anyone has had linex done to there inside how much dough did it cost

Fast and easy just screw some metal over the hole and have them coat it all heavily. They might even be able to level the surface over it.

i was thinking about diamond plate but i think thats a little to redneccky. ill prob just do what you said and put a piece of aluminum or somthing over it and pop rivet it in THURR

Maybe it is the redneck in me but diamond plate would look kick ass :D I know I plan to do the rear cargo area interior panels in my burb in diamond plate eventually since the stock card board stuff is crap and not very forgiving.

A little too REDNECCKY................Coming from a guy in Kentucky:haha::haha::haha:Diamond plate the whole lower door. It would look good, especially with Hurculiner over the top.

I've seen diamond plate -- I think aluminum -- across the entire lower panel. Might be a kit for it...

On my old burb I had the door lower section, tailgate insert and kick panels all in alum diamond plate. Looks kickass

I did diamond plate on my old 82 k20. Turned out slick.

ive never dont any metal work. what do i need to cut that thing and how did you mount it? MIGHTY PUTTY:D

It looks like he used self drilling screws around the perimeter of the aluminum piece...it turned out really nice.

bruce, is the diamond plate over the original sheet metal floor or is that the actual floor? im thinking about doing something like that in my K10

I'm trying to figure out if I should do this or get new panels on the 89.. some jackass cut holes where the ash trays are in the rear passenger doors. Looks like crap right now.

I think black diamond plate would look pretty slick depending on the interior.

Any tips on fixing it up so it looks original? I have the same problem on my '67 Fairlane.

Mine had the trashy carpet panels down there so I measured the length and width of one and had my brother (who does sheet metal for a living) cut some scrap 1/8" aluminum diamond plate to size at work. Then I traced the radius' and screw locations from the stock panel onto the new panels. Cut out the radius' with a jigsaw and the speaker holes with a holesaw. Then I used self drilling screws with 5/16" hex head run into the stock holes and BAM!

just use those metal sheets for patching drywall. then spray over it. there like 1/16 of an inch thick, you most likly wont be able to tell. o and apoxy the back side
