i just got a 14bolt and 10 bolt 3/4ton today. its 4.10 gears. i know i need to get a wire wheel and get all the old dirt and rust off what else should i do before swapping it under my truck. im going with the rear disks on the back but i dont know where to find Ubolts that will fit with my 6" lift well i have blocks in the rear. what else should i do to get them road ready. its a gov loc but i dont do any hardcore rock stuff so until it blows up im keepin it in there. any ideas?

try talking to one of the old guys at napa, they've got catalogues for the ubolts by dimension. they also knew where to get custom ones made if necessary. other than that ord sells them.

cool thanks anything else i should check go over? what about the spring perches. do i need new ones or not?

if the 14 bolt is out of a 3/4 ton you should be fine. however....

ebrake mounting will be different, but you wanted a parking brake mounted to your tranny anyway right?

shock mounts are the same.

oh driveshaft ujoint for the rear will probably need a frankenstein joint. you'll need to take in the measurements for the cup size and width of where the ujoint sits in yoke for the 14 bolt and drive shaft.

for the ubolts measure from the bottom of the ubolt on the inside to the top of the ubolt on your old ones. then measure the width of your axle for the other measurement. this measurement can also be used to check your mounting plates to make sure they will fit the new ubolts.

sorry forgot about the perches. you shouldn't have to change them unless you have done a shackle flip and your pinion angle is off. but i am guessing you've got blocks hence the ubolt ?

yeah i got blocks untill i get some money for a shackle flip and some new springs.

Try contacting Off Road Unlimited. I think they're a vendor on this site. They have most of the conversion u-bolts you need.

ok i will. ill have some pics on here thrusday since im going to start wire wheeling them to get all the crud off. what paint shoud i use??? doesnt matter or high heat?

I also buy my u-bolts from a local spring shop, they will make any size and length I need most of the time while I wait. Just do a local search for auto parts/ suspension in your area and look for shops that deal with big trucks.:D
