I went with a Hobart Handler 140. Its got 4 heat settings and an analog wire speed. I just got done burning some D-rings onto my rear crossmember. Let me tell you something, it beats the crap out of my 100amp Chicago electric piece o junk that I could only weld exhaust pipe with.

Despite everyones advise I went with a 115v though only because I'd like to be able to use it everywhere I work as well as friends houses. The most intense thing I'll ever do is a roof rack anyway but from the looks of it with some getting used to and learning clean welds I could probably build and f'ing cage with it.

Every weld is getting better and I'm quite impressed with it.

Bad ass man! That is a good little welder you got there. It would do a cage no problem or a heavy duty bumper....whatever you want to build with it..it will do it.

Yeah I gotta get a tank and gas for it. I was using my friends today with gas and solid wire and its SO much easier to lay a nice bead.

Yep started the tube bed tonight. Welds keep getting better. I can do a vertical like nobodies business and stitch too.

ya ever need to burn something heavier, ya can always hit me up down the street...

Hey man thanks for the offer I appreciate it.

I'll take some pics tomorrow. Right now I have the main "outline" frame finished up. Its 70" by 70" with 45 at the back end. Tomorrow I will be welding the support frame that bolts to the truck on and hopefully doing the two square roll bar/racks. I have all day so maybe I'll even get to deck it. I've decided to use that composite sh1te that home depot sells.

And yes my truck is shortened quite a bit. Aside from eliminating the 6in over hang the stock beds have when I made the wooden flatty I also shortened the frame to just about the shackle mount.
