Got my Blazer Sat evening and paid $3100. To expedite the sale, I am responsible for paying renewal and smog fees which I estimate to be ~$150 (thanks to good 'ol Cali emissions).

It has a 6" lift (per the seller) but the blocks look to be about 4". 35" Wranglers which are new(er). 350/350, which I can't wait to get an overdrive set up... thanks to $3.00+ gas prices.

It obviously needs work here and there but it has its pluses and minuses. My next major hurdle is getting it to pass a smog test only...

Any body know of someone who can help me pass smog without the catalytic converter being installed? I am in the South Bay / Beach Cities area.

Thanks!

without the cat it will NOT pass visual therefore it will not pass smog. You can throw one in easy though. Or have an exhaust shop do er for ya.

Nice truck.

A little time and money spent on a new carpet kit, and some door panel repair will make that interior look a LOT nicer too.

Hope you don't get any unpleasant surprises with the smog check.....I always get nervous when I hear that a seller doesn't want to take care of the smog inspection BEFORE the sale.

Thanks for the reply. The smogging waspart of the sale negotiation... He wanted $3500 and he would have done everything (smog, etc). I'll end up saving a couple hundred, as long as I don't have to spend money on anything extra... like a cat (which I think I will) oh well. At least I know everything will be done right.

I just looked through your pics, you may want to look into lenthining your drive shaft. It looks like that slip yolk is out quite a ways! :eek1:

Easy fix for the smog crap: move out of Cali.

No way thats 6" lift. Rancho and Pro Comp both make/sell those front springs and they're 4".

What's the easiest/best (and cheapest) way to accomplish this??
Thanks for the heads up.

Hopefully by the end of the year I'll either in the OR/WA or Oklahoma. Waiting to promote at work so my COMPANY pays for the move, not me.

You gotta measure for a new drive shaft, or measure and see if a drive line shop can lengthin the one you have. Its questionable whether or not its a problem. It just looks like that slip yolk doesn't have much slip left in it. That would be no fun to have it fall out the back of your transfer case when you where wheelin!
