I ordered my motor from Pace friday. Best prices on the net...
It's a 96 350 Vortec, I also bought the edelbrock injection system. Complete MSD all the way to the plugs! Doug Thorley Headers. I also opted for the engine accesory package which includes AC, Alt, Water Pump, Power steering and all brackets, What a deal only $625. Try buying individual parts for that price.
Obviously it's going in a 90 Blazer, 4" Lift 33x12.5 4:10 Gears.

Need some advice on a Air Filter system????

Total spent so far (ouch) $5100.00, Not bad really for all I got.

You'll have 1 sweet K5 when you're done. Never bought anything from Pace, I always dealt with Sallee Chevrolet on Oregon. Bought 2 engines and my NV4500 from them. Will have to check out Pace the next time. How soon before delivery of the parts and install done?

Parts will be here Friday. Guess where I will be the weekend!!!

I will have to wait for Edelbrock to burn the chip. Once you get the system you call them with the # on the ECM and they burn it.

Any suggestions on a Air filter system?

Will post some pics and details of the project when I get done.

So you can just drop this baby in get a chip burned and that's it? What about the ECM / Engine/ tranny compatability?

With an 88, can I get a vortec motor and still used the stock setup TBI, etc.? Or is that just not the idea?

Which Edelbrock injection system are you going with? From everything I've been learning, looks like my next "investment" will be EFI of some type. Keeps us informed as to how this turns out. Particularly interested in fuel mileage and low end torque improvements.

are you saying you got a new vortec 350 with all the accesorries for that $625 price?

The way I read it is he got the acc. package for that!

Backlash, After all the researching I was told this is the best way to increase the ponies and torque. I was told this is a simple drop in, works with my 700r4 and stock ecm. The only thing I'm still fuzzy on is the EGR. I know it has something to do with the EFI from edelbrock. I also had to use a different set of Thorley Headers. Call Milo at Pace parts, he seemed very knowledgeable and helpful.
I think you can put the same motor in your rig but will have to use a different manifold. I seen some posts on this earlier,

Will look into this system. Like the price and appears it would work with my Vortec head equipted 383. If it'll help fuel economy, I want to try it. My 31 gal. tank doesn't allow for much long distance towing without a fuel stop often.
