In my shop. Doing stuff.
And it's not race fuel.

91 octane non-ethanol gasoline. Drive up to the 24hr pump and fill. It's $4.30 a gallon, but I figure a tank every now and then is a good thing. The small engines at work really like it. And the Blazer runs substantially better.

I know you are talking about the good stuff but got me wondering: What are the normal octanes sold in Colorado? I thought I remember them being lower than here in California.

Also, do you do any additives/octane boosters in your blazer?

i remember back in my teens... when i started driving.. used to fill up with 93 octane (sunoco?) and add 108 octane boost to every tank!!!!

people say just cuz you can run high octane doesnt mean you will see a difference because sometimes a motor has to work harder to use it..

for me and my lead runnin capable truck (yes i remember leaded or unleaded:pimp:) it LOVED IT

On North Nevada at Filmore?!? There was one gas station on Circle that was non-ethanol but I thought that dissapeared a year or two ago.

Love to try it out on my other vehicles and our boat with the Corvette LT1 in it.

No additives. They are all snake oil now. Regular here is 85 octane. Running that stuff in the Blazer causes detonation going up hill at 65mph in OD. I know this because the check engine light comes on within 10 feet of the same spot every day.

Chief petroleum off of Cimarron.

around here every shell station has the v-power 91 octane no-ethanol stuff. Its not much more than premium ethanol crap at the other stations.

Octane is a measure of resistance to burning. You will make the most power with the lowest octane that doesn't cause detonation.

seems to make a big difference in small motors though:D ive gotten 5-10 extra mph out of a whole bottle of 104 booster in the tank of a moped:thumb: don't know why but it worked many times. probably severly shortened its life but it was fun

but yeah that's all it is I know:dunno:

Here in Maryland Sunoco dropped thier Ultra from 94 to 93. Most places have 93,89 and 86. My lead capable '73 350 likes 93 and loves when I'm crazy enough to put a few gallons of $8.50 100 octane at the purple pump in with a tank of 93:waytogo:

Even the lowly 307 of 1973 vintage I put in my 81 van from a Malibu says on the original radiator support sticker to use "leaded gasoline of 93 or higher octane"....and its lucky to have 8:1 compression!...maybe thats why its not so speedy, and I had to back off the timing to prevent pinging on todays 87 octane skunk piss "eff-in all" gas?..

LOL on the Boost 104 in the Moped!...I used to put that Cox model airplane fuel in my go-cart's Briggs & Stratton back in the 60's,it has nitromethane in it!..it makes a nice pretty blue flame a foot long out of the muffler, and would make it glow like a jack-o-lantern after dark...we ran that engine on it several times, before the exhaust valve developed a "V" notch in it where it litteraly blew away ...we robbed another one from a junk push mower engine, lapped it in with some compound, and beat it some more!..

We used to run it on anything flammable we found in my dads garage..mineral spirits, laquer thinner,we even tried turpentine once, but it didn't do to well on that stuff--barely ran, smoked like hell, and stunk like 1000 burning pine sol bottles..then it died, until we dumped the tank out and put fresh gas back in it..
