Finally gettin some snow

Those photos bring back unpleasant memories !..
We've had more than one 36+" snowfall here, made life a nightmare for several weeks..

I think the most snow I've experienced has been about 2 feet in one dumping. Big storms are pretty fun actually.

Yes,I'm glad there is no snow here yet..its 34 degrees here and sunny today--yesterday it was in the 50's early, rain is expected for New Years Eve (booo)--and New Years Day is expected to possibly hit upper 50's,maybe 60!..then back to the 30's again..

We had about 6" of snow here fall just before thanksgiving--but since then its been rain, rain, rain, just like the previous 3 months..
Seems like it got very cold early this year,it was 14 degrees thanksgiving day,and stayed well below normal for weeks since, some record lows--every time it warmed above freezing it rains, when its cold its clear, dry and windy..

Big snowstorms are "fun" until it comes time to move all that snow off your driveway, walks and steps..or until someone dies because of them..

The Blizzard of '78 changed my life--I had never seen so much snow, with winds over 60+ mph sustained for so long..

We had 36" of snow fall in as many hours, but the winds drifted snow up as high as the second floor of some homes..
We'd seen plenty of 2 footer storms before, but they didn't come with hurricane force winds and high tides at the worst point of the lunar cycle..
100 people died in New England and 4,500 were injured as a result of the storm...

We have had a few storms that rivaled the snow totals of the '78 Blizzard, but not the wind or high tides..winter of 2015 starting in late January was the worst I've seen since then,it only snowed once in December 2014,a 22" storm, then nothing until the last week of January--then it snowed every 3-4 days until March, and many of the storms were in the 18"-24+" range--soon there was nowhere to pile it,and over 12 feet fell in just over a month's time..our "average" snowfall here is about 40"...:screwy:

Ever since then I've had a healthy respect/fear of heavy snowfalls..and mother nature in general..

This past summer I had a lightning bolt strike a transformer about 100 feet from where I'm sitting, and the damage it did was awe inspiring..blew the transformer apart, all the oil in it caught on fire instantly, and the pole burnt to a cinder within 5 minutes, while the wires arced and danced on the ground, creating enough heat to start the grass and dirt on fire, despite monsoon downpours happening at the same time....

I was there in the blizzard of 78. I was living there as a kid at the time. I remember being able to walk over 7ft fences. And single story homes completely buried.:yikes:

The biggest snowfall I recall was in 2007 in BC when we got 29" on Christmas eve. That was the first year in the previous 18 years I did not have a working 4WD vehicle on hand.

We're in Edmonton now, colder and real winter for 5 months most years...but we rarely get more than 6-8" at once. The difference here is once winter is "on" whatever snow we get doesn't go away. The stuff just starts piling up. We got 4 or 5" last night, but it was windy so there was a solid 18" on the sidewalk. -1 F too...

32" is epic! That pic of the Blazer is just wild!

Been tryin to figure out how to upload the video of the noise comin from Tcase or abouts. I posted it on my FB page cuz it’s too big to upload here. Here’s the link.

Can anyone tell what this is? Been too damn cold for me to crawl under there right now. Lol. I just had my case redone year and a half ago. It does it in 4wd hi or lo. It will still do it (just not as loud) with case in 2hi and hubs locked. Mostly as you get to around 20mph and higher. Driveshaft seemed tight.

When I was still up in Jersey back in December 2010 the coast got about 34-36 inches in 12 hours or so. It was fun driving through that in my dodge.

I remember the couple big storms we got in '96. There was snow piles thru June.
