So the story goes, I stopped at the local junkyard 2 wks ago to check inventory. The place is .3 mi up the rd from me, but has strange hrs, small family owned yard. I am about to leave, pretty slim pickins, until I see this Blazer looking at me. I live in Ma, and you don`t see these everyday in this shape, never mind a 91 w/TBI, and a 4 spd. the truck is about 95% rust free, and complete. I ask the yard owner if he will sell it whole, he says yes, much to my suprise. I go lokk at it a little better. He has no keys, did but they are now gone, were in truck...duh. So the steering wheel lock is broken, but not the ignition. I spend like 5 min taking out the ignition switch, stick in an allen wrench, and it fires right up. It has a flat, and the clutch goes to the floor, sounds good though. We make a deal, he drops it off today. While I was under it @ the yard I noticed the P/O starte dto take apart to do the clutch, so I figure it is smoked. I also notice the slave cyl is missing, but line is intact...my local NAPA has a slave in stock. I put it in, spend 1/2 hr bleding it by myself...nothing. I then notice there are no bellhousing bolts, yet both driveshafts, and the crossmember are still in, 1/2 in gap between bellhsg and block. I find a few bolts, jack the trans a touch, and bolt it up. Bleed clutch another couple times and bingo, not much there but enough to move it around. It will need a clutch, but at least it drives now. I also removed the goody runing boards, and bug guard. I am a happy guy, sorry for the looong post.

You saved it!! :waytogo:

Looks in decent shape, I'm really surprised that was in a junk yard.

Wow nice, when cash for clunkers happened I wish I had alot of money would have a dozen super clean blazers and burbs sitting around, all with no motor but lots of good bodys.

Good save

Beautiful man. As Rene said you saved it. I promised my wife that some day we would find her a 91. We sold her 71 last year cause it needed a lot work. She is a die hard K5 fan so she will get her 91 someday.

Thats probably the ONLY one in MA that had a 4 speed factory, and no real rot on it!--somehow,I am not surprised you found it in a junkyard,I have seen many NICE trucks that were solid and very restorable that some moron flubbed up by trying to "customize"or simply repair it ,then realezed they got in over their heads, get disgusted, and sell it off as scrap..its a dam shame--lots of good trucks have to get scrapped due to no title too, another sinful waste..

Glad to see you saved that one,and I bet it'll be good to you--trucks that have been rescued from the scrapyard dont soon forget your kindness..some of the best buys I have gotten were from junkyards and sctapyards--before they stopped letting people go scrounging around in them anyway...sadly,few places even let you beyond the gates now unless your dropping a load of scrap off..and wont let you buy anything no matter what you offered for it..

Those small family owned places seem to get all the good stuff somehow..there is a few like that near me,but most of them want top dollar for anything decent they get,and too often a "whole" vehicle worth fixing will get partially cannibalized before you can get back there with cash,or they'll haul it off with the loader and destroy all the body panels --then say "ooops..you WANTED that??...Sorry"..

Ain't that the truth. Cash for clunkers took a lot of really good old iron out.

That's a great find no matter how you see it. And as a bonus it matches your burb.

Can't wait to see it on the road. Hoarder. :D

Yup I have a whole set, Burb, K5, K30, all apple red. I want to get it on the road, but need to back burnerit for a few, need to get the K30 situation figured out for winter, and might be selling the Burb. I really don`t ned this amny trucks. I always wanted a nice K5, that wasn`t a typical rust bucket, I think this will be my 5th one.
