Last summer i was able to swap in the 14 bolt and dana 60, along with all the new suspension components, and i just got the truck back from the driveline shop and it finally moved under its own power. One thing thou, it is definitely gonna need some sway bars just to cruise.. Here are some pics of it moving and you will be able to see what i'm talking about with the sway bar deal. Anyways i still have some adjustments i need to make (especially to the front, but thats next weekend), but it moves, and i'm stoked.. On to the pics.

My pops taking off out of the drive way, at roughly 2 mph..lol.. crazy body roll thou, but i guess that is what you get when u have johnny joints incorperated into the shackle flip, and like i said its no where near being properly adjusted, but i just wanted to see it drive..

Are the pics with a lot body roll also moving real slow? Does it lean at rest or will it right itself?

Looks really good! Can't wait til you start posting wheeling pics!

:eek1: What?! How did you incorporate johnny joints into your shackle flip? It takes some REALLY soft springs to sway like that.

yea, those pics are moving pretty slow.. it was ridiculous.. but hopefully some sway bars will help cure it a lil bit.. and it didnt help that i only have one rear shock on due to the mount being rolled under too much when the driveline guy had to cut and reweld the perches to accommodate for the cv shaft,
but anyways, it sits dead level on level ground, and it does ride its self out to being level once it gets going straight.

i believe georgia_gabe has a diy4x shackle flip with the johnny joints, and that is where i got the idea, so kert built them up for me that way. here is a pic of the shackle flip:

and the springs are 52" lifted T.C.'s up front, and lifted 56" T.C.'s flipped in the rear.

Very interesting

Once you've had a chance to really drive it please post up a "review" of how you like that johnny joint set up.

Looks great! The shocks will definitely help with the body roll. You probably need the stiffest shocks available to help with the body roll. Mine had ban body roll with my 9012 shocks set to soft. Just adjusting the setting to the most stiff position helped a bunch. Doing that also helped reduce the bumper steer too. I am to a point of possibly adding a second set the rear...

Mine has body lean like that with Bilstein 5150's at all four corners and Alcan springs. The lean is bad enough...wait til you have to brake somewhat hard. :eek1:

Then if your front springs are as soft as mine are you'll likely have plenty of fun fighting death wobble. Soft springs aren't very laterally stable...which amplifies DW issues unless you run a panhard of some sort.

I'll be running some more traditional front lift springs on the 6 pack I'm building, and softish rear springs. I actually like to drive my truck on the street somewhat often...

I'm going to say that your body roll is entirely because of those johnny joints in the rear.

looks good though. :thumb:

Thanks for the compelments guys, i will definitely get a review up on the johnny jointed shackle flip. It seems like it would be awesome for articulating, which was the whole idea behind it, but it mite not be the greatest thing to have for street driving.
as for the shocks, i have looked into some shocks like Mrk5 reviewed on the home page here. I figured something w/ the ability to revalve at home would be the ticket for the shocks, but i still think i'm going to need some type of swaybar for street driving, or i was going to maybe hook-up a limiting strap on each side of the springs and disconnect it for wheeling.. i dunno yet, i still have to do a little research on what i'm going to do.
The front springs are pretty soft. I believe they have a 495 lb. spring rate, which is the same spring rate as my buddy's T.C.'s 4" ez ride springs, but they seem a lot softer then his.. anyways, i think i can already feel the death wobble coming.. i have only got the truck up to about 35, and it starts to bounce pretty good. I do need to fix the castor angle thou. It is was to possitive, and i'm going to try and dial that in a little bit when i adjust the whole front end. Hopefully that will help with the death wobble a lil bit, plus i already have the hydro-assist set up, but if it is still there i will try the fender washer trick, which seems to be the trick.

495 lbs/in is not soft at all. My old BDS 4" lift springs were in the low 300's (5200 lb. fullsize) and my current setup is ~220/165 on a 4000 lb. buggy. I said it before but using a flex joint in place of a bushing sacrifices a lot of on-road streetability for more flex.

More lift means more leverage on the springs in a turn (and hence more body roll). How much lift are you using, 8-10"?

Generally lift manufactures use stiffer springs on higher lifts because the higher the center of gravity, the more the truck will want to lean during turns.

Sway bars will work well for you (good road manners and you can disconnect them for good offroad performance), if I was in your situation I would try to get the stock sway bar to work.

If you feel like spending $$ for a better setup the Currie Anti-Rock works very well.
