Well I finally opened the box from American Auto Wire. WOW it sure looked intimidating, but after a while and just taking it one wire at a time it really is quite easy. The instructions are really easy to follow. Since Friday I have got the engine bay, the dash, instrument cluster and almost all the front lights done. I did have one question, I seem to not find any connection for a voltage regulator. Is it because most alts are internally regulated now a days? I also got my front seats back from the upholster. (I just picked at random off of Craigs list). I tried to stick with the Hammered Finish theme when picking the vinyl. HA!

I'm not sure my old voltage regulator actually went into the fuse block, but yea most alternators are internally regulated. Did you need to cut te firewall to get the fuseblock to fit?

Brian, the external voltage regulators on the 1st gen stuff is mounted on the driver side radiator support.

I just looked up the kit you bought and it says...

"Engine wiring includes connectors for original points type as well as H.E.I. distributors. Power and tach connectors supplied for GM H.E.I. distributors. Alternator connectors are supplied for GM "SI" series internally regulated alternators. GM "CS" series alternator adapter is available separately". You will need to change your alternator to one of the two they listed (SI or CS type).

I do know where the regulator was, but do you know if any parts of it are fused at the block. I removed it so long ago that I can't remember, but it looks like sbd has it figured out now.

How did the instrument cluster to circuit board match up, I have gauges and noticed the alternator gauge was not accounted for with the wiring scheme, had to add wire, haven't got far enough to check out.

Your right. I have a separate gauge console and have not hooked up the electrical for the alt as of yet. I'm going to split the wire and run both gauges, otherwise everything went fine and it all works well. I just got it hooked up last night. I am glad I did not through away my old harnesses because several of the connectors (Like to the turn signals) are rubber and sealed so I used them instead of what came in the kit.

What no comments from the peanut gallery on the Halloween seats
I gave you the benefit of the doubt and thought you were making the "Gen I K5 / Harley Davidson edition".
