I will have bass. I never post in this section but I figured this is as good a time as any. Just ordered 2 Kicker CVR 15's. :D

I can't decide on a ported or sealed box for them though. I have only heard this same sub in a ported box.. But I have heard the 12" version in a sealed box and liked it as well.

The subs should be in sometime late this week. So I need to decide on a box. What do you guys think/prefer and why?

15's are gonna not be the greatest sounding sub ever, but it will put out some sound...I'd go with a ported box just for the added thump. Face it a 15 is too big of a cone area to be a sound quality sub, so I figure go with a ported box tuned low to let them really slam

Yeah I understand about the SQ being low. But I have heard these subs before and love them. I know a smaller sub would be better for SQ But these are freaking loud! I was messing with my truck today and i think the worst rattle is going to be the tailgate internals.. Any ideas on how to keep the window parts in the tailgate from rattling?
ah I guess thats a dumb question. I really have to wait till they are in to figure all that out. It was just a guess.

I got a tracking number already and it says they should be here thursday. So Im going to look for boxes and an amp probably wednesday or something.

I just hope I can fix all the rattles it makes so I can actually hear the subs. :haha:

I would say sealed box. they will play cleaner and be less boomy, and i figure you'll get enough boom and volume out of 2 15's anyways.

dhcomp has a good point, actually, I didn't really think too much about it, but 2 15's will have plenty of volume in a sealed box. As far as your rattles go, dynamat or some kind of dampening material inside the tailgate on both walls and you might want to do the doors and other areas prone to have rattles.

so basically you guys think I should go with a sealed box?. Im worried that it will be quieter this way. I know I know 15's are going to be loud either way but I want them to be as loud as possible. I get used to loud stereos easily. I have never heard these 15's in a sealed box.. But I loved them in a ported box. So thats why I am having a hard time deciding even though yall say it will be fine.
Well I will probably end up making my mind up in the store on thursday or friday. But I would rather be swayed one way or the other before then. I called them today to get prices on everything else i need.
The sealed box was cheaper by 30 dollars. The amp I was going to get isnt made anymore. It was a 1600 watt. Now they changed it to a 1800 watt. :D
My brother and a friend of mine both have the 1600 pushing cvr 12's. And they havent blown yet. They are a pretty good sub for the price.

Alright well thats all for now. Any more comments or advice is welcome. I am in no way decided on one thing as far as the box goes. Thanks for the comments so far.

i Say sealed. A K5 blazer is a fairly small vehicle. 2 15's in a sealed box should be great. I just think the run-of-the-mill ported boxes sound like crap.

15's are gonna not be the greatest sounding sub ever, but it will put out some sound...I'd go with a ported box just for the added thump. Face it a 15 is too big of a cone area to be a sound quality sub, so I figure go with a ported box tuned low to let them really slam
Larger subs being incapable of good sound quality is a myth. In fact, a larger sub is required to excurt less than a smaller sub for any given output level, thus working the sub's motor less, and outputing LESS distortion.

These subs generate sometimes in upwards of 3 to 4 horsepower each. the few grams difference in weight between sub sizes will make no audible change in the subs transient response.
