I didn't want a bumper that went straight across.

I bought the spindle and crossbar from a guy that was making it for a Jeepster. So I had to add another 18" to make it across the truck.

All finished and painted.

I mounted the bumper by removing the bumper brackets from the end of the frame and making new brackets with c-channel welded to the 2"x6"x3/16" rectangle tube. I also made brackets to bolt to the crossmember that is aft of the gas tank.

I have cardboard templates made for the mounting brackets if anyone's interested.
 
Nice job. Tire position is great, still allows you to see out the rear glass...I've seensome built where you can't see very well.

Thanks. I mounted the tire like that for 2 reasons. One like you mentioned is visibility, and the other is to keep the cantalever down as much as possible.
