I am finally doin the 14bff swap, and I wanted to go old school on the wheels. I have always liked the turbine wheels, and the slots. Well I found a guy who has both sets for the same price. Now I can't decide if I want the satin turbines, or some polished slots. I have always had polished wheels, I can't quite imagine the machined look on my blazer. What do you all think

If by fins do you mean like hurricanes? I had those...they SUCK...Lug-nuts are a TERROR....

Slotted mags for the win

^They both use the same lug styles. BTW, if the lugs are not worn (they can get a little mushroomed), they aren't that bad to work with.

I like hurricanes and slots, but you truck would look great with slots:D

Go slots, there like the 5 slot old Mag wheels correct?

Yeah the 5 slot wheels. I am leaning that way. I have always loved them, but recently taken a liking to the finned wheels, but probably not on my blazer. He only wants $125 per set

When I think of mags I think of Starsky & Hutch, loved that show. There was an episode of them undercover running moonshine in a built Red Ford pickup that has the finned wheels. First time I ever saw them, the truck was BAD ASS and the rims looked BITCHEN. The truck had fresh paint and the wheels were gloss black with the fins pollished. I'll always remember that Ford truck. I was a kid and still remember it. I'm gonna see if I can find the episode now.

Found the episode! bout four mins in they show the truck, and through out the episode. It has the fin wheels. My memory was a little vague, The wheels are NOT black with polished fins. Wishful thinking I guess :D. Check it out. Hay I still remembered a 30+ year old tv show with fin wheels, Thas pretty good!

going against the flow here but I like the fins, slots are cool but I love those fin wheels

I've always liked the turbines, but not for a shiny truck like yours. Go with the polished slots.

That's a good price for those wheels, make sure they're not 16.5"s.

You could always buy BOTH sets and ship me the turbines.:D

Well, IMO if you are doing a vintage style truck, EITHER set would look great. Personally, I would do the slots. Cleaning wheels with that many spokes SUCKS.

Well they are 16.5. Isn't that the only way they made them back then? I know the 16.5's are getting harder to find tires for, but all I want is a BFG all-terrain or mud-terrain, and they make the AT still. Should I look for a different set?

Personally, I like the wheel you have on it now. Slots would look good to, but it would be hard to make your truck look any better since it is in awsome shape!

Thanks. It was my first vehicle. I have owned it for 12 years. Bought it from the original owners nephew. He never drove it. It has 55,000 miles on it when I got it. The original owner is a local lady who special ordered it at the dealer. Every option but the 400 small block. The cruise even still works. I repainted it 4 years ago and have rarely driven it since. Now with much persuasion from the crew here. It is going back into service as my daily driver, but I am making it how I always wanted first.

I had the turbines on my 82 K20, they looked sweet, black truck and I painted the wheels black and polished the spokes. I think the slots look better on the pre-81 trucks with the early nose. I had no trouble with my 16.5`s, I was running used BFG T/A`s. You just have limited tire choices and the possibility of slipping a bead if you air them down low, like 10-15 psi.

Well I was going to go with the slots, but the guy is dragging his feet. I don't think he is wanting to sell them or something. So I am looking at other options. I have always liked the weld super single II's. I like the flat inner hub look, but they are too expensive if you can find them. So I was looking at this wheel" the rockcrusher". Raceline makes them which I think is Summit's brand?

Anyways is 4.5 inch the correct backspacing? This is the wheel I was looking at. Plus I would have more tire choices being a 16 and not a 16.5.
