Searched and didn't come up with much

What are you running? How many pounds? What type? How many extinguishers?

I want to get a few diy4x mounts

I figure spending a few hundred to protect my investment of thousands isn't a bad idea

the ABC type, for fuel/oil and electrical is important

I've got pictures of Kerts mounts in the last few pages of my build thread. I run two, both different sizes. Thinking about another by the driver's feet. Not sure what the sizes are though.

I doubt it maters, but the large one on the back of my truck is DOT approved. I don't know if that's necessary, but my other two are not :)

Definitely get an ABC- A means rated for wood/paper/rubber/any other solid you would normally expect to burn, the B means rated for flammable liquids, the C means rated for energized electrical equipment- in other words, the agent won't conduct elcetricity. All of which you need.

I would go with dry chemical- yes, you'll have more mess to clean up, but I think they have the fewest drawbacks. CO2 isn't bad either, but having used both I would be more comfortable with a dry chemical.

Also, get one with a hose so you can better aim the spray- some just have a nozzle at the top, and they could be a little harder to aim, especially if you're trying to put out a fire under the hood.

And get as big as you can fit- nothing sucks more than running out of agent just when it's almost extinguished, only to have the whole thing flare back up.

I have a First Alert (B C) rated 2 pound gross weight dry fire extinguisher mounted in the side inset about a foot behind the passenger seat. The extinguisher mount faces to the back and holds at the extinguisher neck, and also a plastic strap around the bottle. The location is completely out of the way, and I can unhook my seat belt to reach behind the passenger seat to access it. Long reach, but I have long arms so no big deal.

I'm going to order two mounts for now

I think I'll do a 2.5 inside and a 5 pound outside for now
