tomorrow morning i will be getting my first blazer. got it off ebay for $4800. I have always wanted a K5, and after seeing the CUCVs i knew that was for me.
i'm hoping that i can get the title swapped and registered before the DMV closes tomorrow or else its going to be a long weekend waiting to drive.

It looks pretty good from the pics I saw, Im not an expert on price, it just looks nice. good for you.

Check out steel soldiers.com for lots of cucv info. I have one and like it plenty. I put in a civvy dash. took some serious time, but gauges are nice.
Glow plug system and charging system are the big differences in a cucv.
Seperate alternator grounds. Terminal blocks on the firewall. Big, heavy relay for the glowplugs, and a controller card for them. Mine requires revving it high after the oil pressure gets up, to start one of the alternators charging.

looks good man. Is there any rot on it?

the only rot is in the corners of the doors. its nothing to worry about just tiny bubbles. the rockers were cut out and new panels were welded in. the interior floor is in great condition.

so does that mean i need to order different glow plugs since they are 24v or does than not matter?

Welcome to CK5 :waytogo:

Yep, looks pretty damn clean. Pricy, I think I would have bought one of the members rigs who have done a ton of stuff with all kinds of aftermarket parts on it already but has to get rid of it for financial reasons. If your building a full on trail rig like we all are your starting from the completely stock rig, and you already have $4800 into it. s long as your happy, cool though. It's only money I always say. What are your plans? full on trail hard core rig, super flexy suspension, 40" tires, cage and such? or good trail blazer with 35", good road manners, more street then dirt use?

i think i could be happy with 35 inchers maybe a snorkel and a cage. not sure yet. i still haven't gotten it registered yet. so right now I'm more consumed with being able to drive it as is

My bad, typo. Plenty of support for these. Filters and ecv valves, alts and starters on ebay. Be wairry of the starters, lots of cheap crap with bad windings. One company uses the name O.E.M. to sell therir stuff, and it's import junk. Find surplus or take off if you can. Look into a glow plug replacement relay if yours hasn't had it done. Again, steelsoldiers.com is your friend. PS, the admin can be a tad rude about anything not original.

Glow plugs are 12v. Steel soldiers should have the proper type for replacement. The only thing 24v on the truck is the starting system. Two 12v batts two 12v alts with isolated grounds and a 24v starter. I would leave it as it as cause it works pretty good and the folks at SS can help with an electrical issues. If you mess with it its anyones guess

After getting it Titled and registered i drove it for the past two days. i am actually surprised with how tight everything is in the front end. there is no play at all in the steering wheel.
Hands down the most fun i have had driving any vehicle. just knowing that i am rolling in 2-tons of freedom fighting fun keeps the smile on my face

I pick up my M1009 Tuesday... maybe Monday if the bank is open... which I dont think it is.

It will go nicely with my M1008!

Wellman 070's are the correct plug. You can find them on Ebay and the guy who sells them there sells them directly through his online store. Have a set in Big Ugly and they work great.
