We loaded up the 2 kids and took our 89 K5 for it's first long trip since we owned her. 1600 mile trip. GPS showed we travel 520.8 miles on one tank we stop filled her took 30.7 gallons to fill. So if you dived 520.8 by 31 gallons you get 16.8 MPG. We were completely shocked. We figured 10-12 MPG. That running 70 down the highway. The kids love taking blazer on road trip they say it gives them so much room to play and nap.

We are running 350/700R4/241NP. All hand built by me. Even bored and honed the block myself. 33x12.50x15 tires with 4:56 gears.

Nice....:thumb:

I have been juggling gear ratios in my head, I decided on 4:56's. Your report is good news to, gives a bit of confidence I decided correctly.

I currently have a spare 10 bolt, going to build it up with gears and a locker. I'll drop it in when it's ready, then start looking for a rear.
