Last week I bought this 89', well I had my dad and brother pick it up. I'm in Afghanistan currently so haven't even seen it in person but really anxious to get home and start working on it.

According to the PO it has rough country springs in front with a shim and shackle flip out back with block and overload leaf. 7" front/ 8" rear. 37/13.5/15 Baja Claws, not sure what the wheels are. Haven't been in the 4wd scene really since i moved away from FL. Not sure wher I am going to begin but would really like to run some 39.5 or 40's and switch out to 1ton and get rid of those blocks. I like my fenders and do not plan on cutting them up, I'll save that for something i can beat up without worrying too much.

Welcome to the site.

Get rid of the blocks in the back. Replace them with lift springs. Then drive it. Looks clean. Congrats on the purchase.

The wheels look like Allied 24 bolt bead locks. But zooming in, they might be posers.

I like it! But then again, mine is very similar. Tons are nice. Putting mine in now.

Don't know what pic is more recent, but the steps in the first pic...I would lose those. The second is beautiful.

By the way, I'm an Army O3 13A. Come home safe!

Great looking rig. Hopefully you can keep it clean and uncut like you say.

Steps definately are going, wife may need help but thats alwaya a good excuse to cop a feel.

Thanks man, it is in too nice of shape honestly to start hacking up. Theres one spot of rust maybe 1/4" bubble on ds fender.

Sweet rig! where in NY are you?

Near Binghamton, right now the truck is in NC but we will be bringing it home on Christmas along with my trailer. Road test lol.

nice buy, I got the bug to buy a k5 in Afghanistan too, must be something in the air there. Good luck with the truck and safe home from an Air Force lifer.

will work on going all spring soon. And I'm pretty sure they are posers, guess I'll find out when i get home.

Great looking truck. One day I'll go back to a k5, but if everyone keeps popping up with these clean looking k5's I just may have to do it sooner before they are all gone :)

Good lookin' K5! Be safe and thank you for your service!

Thanks, and will do!

Figured I'd put a couple more up of what i do have for now

Note: the light bar on front bumper is no longer on.

Interior shot

Under the hood

Suspension and drivetrain (what you can see atleast)

Rocker shot, only rust on truck is this tiny bubble on fender

looks awesome man. From what i can tell it has a cv driveshaft, which would tell me the lift might have been done right. Opposed to most of these for sale, where they are block lifted with horrible angles on everything.

Clean as heck though. :thumb:

thanks, i shopped for months and months and finally came across this one. It does have blocks in rear with a shackle flip that the PO did himself. I will be switching out to springs when i get home.

It looks like it has a CV driveshaft already, which is nice
also has the T-case dropped some. Make sure it's done right before you drive it much more. Get some long square tube in there to space it down, not just the collars.

I would stick with those tires or smaller if you don't want to trim. Those fenders aren't going to like 40's.

How will i be able to tell if it has in fact been dropped down? would this have been done to correct pinion angle or something? I haven't even seen it in person yet so not driving it won't be an issue.

Yes for now I will stick with the size I have, they are about due. Once i get new axles I'll run 40's and new springs to clear them without trimming. I like the crawlers and all the flexing, but I'll save that for one thats not such a peach
