First on the \"next F150\"?!!

Watching football yesterday, I saw an interesting commercial.Ford is advertising that their new F150 is the only truck to have shocks mounted outside of the frame rails. I went out to my driveway and sure enough, my 1990 Subie has them also. Must have been a one off custom fabrication, Ford would never be playing catch-up would they? /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif

Re: First on the \"next F150\"?!!

true but the newer Chevy's have them mounted inboard of the frame rails.

Re: First on the \"next F150\"?!!

Your burb is not a truck, it's a passenger vehicle. Do the 1990 gm trucks have shocks outboard as well? I have no clue.

When did GM start making extra cab pickups?

About 15 or so years after Ford AND Dodge did it /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Ford is good /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

in-board, outboard, whatever. who cares. Ford definitely makes a better truck right now either way. Solid front owns.

You own a Super Duty? Dad's torque converter went at 40k miles. Don't have the miles on the Chevy yet but so far he LOVES his 04 2500HD way more than his F250. Ford has been ahead on things most certainly, so has Chevy, as has Dodge, this much competition its bound to happen. Oh and do you forget that while Chevy was still building SFA rigs in the 80s early 90s Ford was using that STUPID TTB setup? As well as using front shackle setups on their F250/F350s.

Your Burb may have the shocks on the outside of the frame but they are still inboard on the axel. The F150 has them on the outside of both the frame and the springs.

Looks like a crew cab to me /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

In fact they don't offer an extended cab anymore. Its just single or crew cab. I believe its the smallest crew cab on the market though. Dad's extended cab is roomy enough for all 6' of me.
