First post here... it's too purty!!!

Near your neck of the woods actually, up in Santa Rosa.

I'm hoping I run 36s with a 6" lift and minimal trimming. Centering the rear axle may help out with the rubbing.

Great looking Jimmy!! I wanted a Jimmy originally but couldn't find anything decent up here in NorCal. Looks sweet with the 4" springs, are you still running the stock drive shafts? I'm hoping that if I move the rear axle back 1.5" I can retain the stock shafts. I have a feeling that moving the 12b rearward coupled with a shackle flip that I may be getting into custom driveshaft territory.

Your 72 have a 465 or a TH350?

thanks, Earl
Earl,
Are you talkin about changing trannies that you have to move the driveshaft back? If so, all I did was move the engine forward and that was a lot easier than messing with the rest of the drive train.

All I did was:
o drill new holes in the frame for the crossmember 2 inches forward
o put in a longer fuel line hose to hook up to the fuel pump.
o get a longer throttle cable.
o and then put in an extension on the exhaust for two inches more length

and that was it... I am pretty sure. I don't recall having to do any real serious work in doing that swap over from Manual to auto tranny.

I bought a nice K5 once. Low miles, perfect body, and I said I wasn't going to wheel it. Yea right. I know myself better than that. If it is the only one you have, it will get wheeled, and dented. So either buy another one or go run it into a tree and get the first dent out of the way.

I'm already on the hunt for 3/4 gear so I can run lockers, the 37's or 38's wont be far behind, I'm sure the first run to the hills will reveal some serious tire rubbing, out comes the sawzall. :doah:
