This is my first axle re gear and i would like opinions on my pattern please. Its a gm 14bolt ff rear. Ive got 7 1/2 thousanths back lash and 30 in lbs pinnion bearing preload. Sorry for the poor pics think i had gear lube on the phone lens and everything else lol. Hoping this is the right place to post this if not please move it or let me know . Thanks mike in new here ive been looking for a while but just became a premium member and started posting. Still figuring it all out and will make an intro and build thred.

If we are gonna pick it apart this sharp edge in your pattern here could use some adjustment but honestly its negligible.

I guess im just looking for should i make any adjust ments or run it ? Im sure its not perfect sounds like most say run it it will be strong and work?

Thanks guys im going to run it. I really appreciate the quick responses i did the research but its reassuring to hear it from people who know. All i could do is try and make it match the pics in the manual.

Better than my first time. Run that sucka!

Had to dissassemble and re assemble to add silicone on the pinnion shim and lock tight to the bearing caps for final assembly. Re test after back lash is still 7.5 thousanths and here is the gear pattern one more time last question do i need to worry that the pattern gets so close to the edge of the tooth (top of the tooth) should i be closer to the root of the tooth? Last question and i put the diff cover back on and run it im sure im just paranoid but wanted to ask?

You could go a couple thousands deeper with the ring gear, but that will tighten up the backlash.

I would run it like it is.

Agreed, you have a decent amount of tooth left at the toe where the pinion gear makes contact.
Its pretty well centered on both sides of the tooth as well.
