Hello everybody, Blazer Bash is just around the corner and I'm sure, much like everyone else, I cannot wait! :D :D :D

I have plenty of wheeling experience, but only here in Texas (takes long enough to get to a decent spot here, leaving the state turns into an excursion at times...) This year will be my first pillgrimage to the promised land and I have some questions regarding logistics with the trucks.

To start, do i need to register my k5 at all for use on the trails? i have heard rumors of this and have never formally asked. It is not street legal here in texas, it is not registered or insured either.

Second, most parks here in Texas are ranches or private land that is owned and opened for 4x4 access. Thus, there is usually a parking lot that trailers and trucks can be parked. From there you go wheel, at the end of the day drive back to the lot, load up and head out. From what I have been reading, this seems very much like Area BFE. However, some of the trails i have been looking at in Moab seem to end and there not be a parking area or an area that the trails return to. Is this true? are they one way trail runs? or are they run, turn around and wheel back?

I ask because of the obvious reasons with the truck not being registered/ insured. But also it is not very highway worthy, it is very slow (low gears). I want to make sure i am completely prepared for the journey.

If its any help, i am signed up for Billings, BFE, Trifecta, Pritchett. Any advice for driving my tow rig in Moab is welcome.

Thanks!:thumb:

If your vehicle isn't licensed for the street in the state you are from you need an outof state Utah OHV sticker.

These are available in most gas stations. The one I know about is the Maverick? on the north end of town on the right side as you are headed south.

The Trifecta and Pritchett will cause you some tow rig issues. When I do the trifecta I park just off of HWY 191 on Potash road. Drive the rig to the trail head, and from the end of the trail the 8 miles back to the tow rig. It's HWY but you can get in with the group and it isn't a big deal, IMO.

Pritchett leaves you 11 miles south of town and a total of about 14 miles from your tow rig. I have driven back to town several times but now I just turn around and come back down the trail and back to the tow rig. The drive out from Pritchett isn't much fun and really just annoying.

Most trails are start here and end there. Except for BFE and if you run Pritchett backwards after you finish.
Hells Revenge starts and ends basically in the same spot.
Trifecta its like 15 miles away so you drive to the start with your rig.

The others you just drive back to town.

The Police are rather lenient. If you drive sanely and have a rig that has the needed safety stuff they are OK. I had my Burb on the street last year officer pulled in behind me and followed for a block or so then took his turn. It was not tagged or anything.
I take my tow rig to the hotel then leave it there for the whole time.
You can buy a OHV permit in town that is what most buggies do. Then they drive them on street.

Actually, if he is running Pritchett on Sunday, I am planning on coming back out the way we go in. I'm not big on the long way out, plus if we get done in time I want to run Moab Rim :thumb:
