Hi!
I bought a Chevy K5 1985 6,2 diesel a while ago.
When I removed the carpet due to moist I found a lot of rust in the floor.
I therefore have to replace the left, right and front floor panels in the back of
the chevy. But I'm not sure how to weld it. I've spoken with several people and they
all have given me different advice.
Some thinks that I should weld the panels edge to edge, others thinkI should
overlap the panels and use 3M's bodyglue between the panels and spotweld
them together with 20 mm between the spots.
Which method would you recommend for a long lasting result?

I but welded mine end to end. The reason I did it this way is because my truck sees allot of mud. If the overlapped panels aren't sealed perfectly moisture and mud will get stuck in between them and start to rust all over again.

overlapping a 1/2", stepping the panel (flange tool) priming all sides and spot welding or using panel adhesive is by far the easier method... don't bother spot welding if you glue (it will light on fire pretty easily), just use plenty where it oozes out of all joints, clean up excess...

Butt joining will last longer because all areas are exposed for treatment, top and bottom... BUT, you better have your game on for that... fitment and welding are critical...
