Another weekend out on the lake,, little troll Elora out-fished Tommy and myself last weekend, she was using an old closed face bait caster my mother used to use, well over 20 years old...
Well, a few days ago, I went out and bought her a new rod & reel. We were at Cabelas a few weeks back looking for other stuff, she saw this rod & reel she really liked, so I surprised her Friday when I came home from running errands.
Dark almost purple mix color rod with similar color open bale reel that has led lights on the spinning part of the spool. Not that you can really see them in the daytime though.
Anyways, we loaded up Sunday morning, hit the water about 11am, a bit slow off and on, but when they do start biting, you'd better have the bait in the water, thy only seemed to do it for a short time.
I'm still using my rooster tail casting lures, her and Tommy were using floating Powerbait with a heavy weight about 3-1/2 ft from the bait & hook. Weight sinks, bait floats, the fish are deep, cooler waters I guess.
I caught 3 Tommy caught 4 and well, Miss Elora, she once again out-fished Tommy and me with a total of 7 fish that day.
It got to be really busy with people loading up the lake with wakeboarding and tubes being pulled, lots of waves, traffic, we were also getting pretty fried by this time, so we headed in and had to sit near the ramp for about 30 minutes while other people were either launching or loading up, wait in line to get off the water.
Another great day on the lake, a bit bummed we couldn't get the kids on the tube, but it was gettin' real busy and Jenn and I were real tired from the sunlight all day, but we caught dinner for a few days
