Trying to do my initial startup and I cannot because my handheld is not working.
Using the usb plug it powers up on the computer fine. It’s just not working off the plug.

I need to see if someone isn’t using their handheld for a bit so I can confirm if that’s my issue and just order a new one.
I just don’t want to buy a new one for no reason.

Did you check voltage at the battery yet?

I had a bunch of issues getting clean power from the C20 diesel harness so it would be wise to put a volt meter on your 12v ignition source to make sure you don’t have a problem there. Those damn fusible links :doah:

The biggest problem I’m having is getting the tip of my meter inside the vehicle harness side to check voltage. The vehicle side is the female end and my tip is too big.

Is there a better place on the unit to test for power? I know my key on is working cuz the fuel pump kicks on with a quickness

I just peal back some insulation on the power supply wire.

And I’m just throwing ideas out there in case it’s not the handheld. You should know by the weekend hopefully.

Read somewhere about not having the charger on with the hand held plugged in

make sure the pin inside the handheld isnt bent, been seeing that from time to time
Read that already and checked it. It was bent but I repositioned it. My fear is that the initial bend damaged the pin to where it isn’t working now.

sucks. It sometimes it pulls the pin to much and hand held is fubar, sorry bro

I’ve had my truck on a booster with the handheld plugged in, no issues so far.

Edit- now I think about it more, I’ve had two others on a booster without problems too.

Yeah I’m not sure where I read that, but someone was advised not to charge/start/play with hand held all at once

Check white wire voltage in all phases of operation. I had to run a relay from battery to white, the IGN+ dropped too much voltage during cranking. You can also mix and match phone charger plugs to the display and find one that matches and power it separately for setup, it doesn't need the same power source as the rest of the system.

As I recall there is IGN 2 and IGN 3, and only one of them, maintains battery voltage during cranking, make sure you tapped the right one. Could be IGN 1 and 2, I'm not at home to pull a diagram out to verify.

Mine is dialed in so I can loan you a handheld if you hit a snag above.

Don't forget the starter switch has two outputs. (actually three, but one does not count here). The ign on terminal, which is hot when you turn the key to "on".
Then there is the "start" position.
Some of the items that are on in the "on" position are not on in "start". For instance, the radio, fan, compressor, things like that are powered from the "on" output, not the "start".
That keeps the compressor from loading down the starter, and keeps voltage spikes from possibly damaging the radio.
You Must have the ignition stuff hooked to the start output. Sounds like you do not.
Try disconnecting only the starter solenoid trigger wire (purple??), measure the power to the distributor, with the switch in run, then with someone holding the key in start.
Bet you lose power in start.

Looking at a schematic, it looks like you may be using Ign-3 or Acc for your power source.
Only Ign-1 has power in start.
Hope the schematic helps. View attachment 227578

@Fordum with the home run - So watch for IGN 3 versus IGN 1. I knew if I kept typing numbers I'd have the right ones.
