my fiberglass top is cracked in the rear corners...

is there anyway to fix this and have it blend in without a huge bulge?

I took a piece of stainless steel 1"x6" long or so, 1/16" thick, and lag bolted upright, inside of the rear pillars. I then took some fiberglass mat and resin and covered the whole thing. Aside for a few small buldges from the bolt heads, where I could have thicken'd up the glass a bit more to belnd, you can't really tell.
To get the glass to lay the way I wanted it, I had leaned the topper up against the side of the house, upright with the rear pillars on the ground.

I'd give you this one if you could arrange to come get it...

I have little hair line cracks and the filler if coming out on mine. I asked my mechanic and he told me to use a marine product that comes in a small tube. To save my life I can't remember the name. He said it is white and comes in a 4 oz tube. I will go see him later today and ask the name

it's not in the seam...

i'll get a pic when i get home from work and post it up

He was probably talking about Marine Tex....

It's pretty much crap... Real marine guys wont use that stuff.. Good product to keep in a toolbox onboard for emergencys tho..

To the original poster.... Take some pics and I'll go in to detail on how to properly repair it so you'd never know it was there...

sorry, i don't know how to resize the pics, and i know that the top and body are different colors, i plan to do the whole truck camo after awhile

Go get another top.

Seriously, way too much work if you are going to repaint it anyway, and usually people are giving the hard tops away.

I disagree with the people that say toss the rear-most (hidden) bolt that holds the topper on. Not sure if that was the case in your install, but since the topper has steel reinforcement in that location, to me it makes sense to bolt it down solid.

well since it seems like k5's are rare around here i think i'll hold on to the top...

the rear bolt the PO stripped out the nut so i just took it out so it wouldn't rattle around

Take yours off, and drive to whoever nearest you is giving one up! :)

I'll wait and see what those who fiberglass have to say, but with it all the way through like that, I'd expect it might take some time, especially to make good, and as strong as it was factory.

These things typically crack/separate where the seams are in the rear, and yours did crack through a seam, no idea if it started there or not. In any case, I would have to imagine for any repair to be strong enough to withstand the flexing the top goes through, you will need to fix the seam as well.

Might be of help here. Back in January I bought a set of windows from Brad Griffin in Youngsville, LA off eBay his seller name was " btland ". He had the whole topper but I only needed the windows. He might still have the top worth giving him a call or email via eBay.
