flame thowers

Well if you JUST wanna know if there dangerous then do you really gotta ask that question? Ive never heard of anyone saying a open 5FT flame is "Safe"
But is it to dangerous? It just depends on the person and set up /forums/images/graemlins/weld.gif

" I know, and you know, you will never come through on this silly idea."

you dont know me

"The only people that build this type of thing are people that get paid to do exhibition runs at racing events; like robosaurus or wheel-standers. "

same thing goes for monster trucks eh?

but really how safe can a 5ft open flame be?

[/ QUOTE ] Pretty safe if you use comman sence. It's not something I'd want to see on the trails in the forest.

Re: flame thowers -- DO NOT USE PROPANE

I have flown balloons for fun for almost 20 yrs now. Propane is what we use to heat the internal air in the envelopes. Propane has no business around the open exhaust of a car. Our safety seminars show us what propane can really do. I am sure the fire fighters on here would agree. Ask them what a BLEVE is. Trust me, you do not want to be anywhere close.

Also, the Properties of Propane are very unstable, unless completely controlled. For instance, it boils at -44 degrees F. Therefore it is pressurized on its on. I have seen what it can do. No thanks.

You rev up your engine and cut the ignition which allows un burned fuel into your exhaust, then you just ignite the flames with like a spark plug in the exhaust pipe.

actually, 99% of the setups i've seen use a mechanical choke, close the choke, engine goes rich, fuel out the pipes, ignite, flame. i've been told its really hard on valves by everyone i've come across with a setup on their sled.

BLEVE- Boiling Liquid Evaporating Vapor Explosion. I took some fire science classes and have seen the videos. Very memorable, I didn't even have to go back to my notes for that one. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif I was merely reporting what I had seen on Monster Garage, not suggesting a setup.
