Flexed truck with A-tron bar (two crappy pic\'s)

Well I went out and got the Jimmy crossed up at a loading dock nearby last night. I snapped 8 or 9 pic's but having a flat black truck crossed up on black asphalt at night doesn't make for great pictures.../forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

The A-tron bar did not limit flex in any way. The loading dock is quite big but I still could not get a tire to lift/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

This pic shows the 39.5" TSL stuffed deep into the wheelwell. for reference I trimmed 2" off the fender lip and the top of the tire is another 2" to 3" inside the well. I have scrub marks 7" up from the bottom of the inside fender well/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The other side dropped as much as it did before I installed the A-tron bar, and I could not see or feel any bind at all.

Here is the best pic I have...I'll have to repeat this exercise in daylight.

rock on man. nice to k now that you got your rig back together. i wonder if the A-tron antiwrap would work with the springer setup that well.

I need to get it on our club ramp with the shocks disconnected to see where the tire will lift. I think it would probably work well with the springer set-up. I could not get a tire to lift last night and it was a big loading dock.

Here is one more crappy pic showing the droop on the other side.

We don't believe there will be any difference between the Springer Suspension and any other truck. I am going up to Florence Junction this weekend to ride with Marv and I plan on talking to him a little bit more about this.

Re: Flexed truck with A-tron bar (one crappy pic)

Eric,

We started making a few sets today. It will be at the very least a week and a half before we are done. Once we have finished making them we will be able to do a job analysis to determine pricing. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

Cool /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gifI'm sure you will keep up posted on when you have them ready to ship /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

CK5 will be the first to know about it/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: Flexed truck with A-tron bar (one crappy pic)

I sent Bill an e-mail yesterday about buying one. I hope to be one of the first in line!

Re: Flexed truck with A-tron bar (two crappy pic\'s)

that is awesome Rene /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif how does it do on the street with the a-tron bar?

Re: Flexed truck with A-tron bar (two crappy pic\'s)

It feels invisible on the street. The driveline feels firmer now which in retrospect should be obvious. No more tire hop or other annoying and damaging traits.

I need to lengthen my front shaft and get it out on the trail soon...it's been way too long since I've been wheeling!

Re: Flexed truck with A-tron bar (one crappy pic)

Are you going to make one for 12's and 10's? I might be interested in one. Marv has a 12 also.

Re: Flexed truck with A-tron bar (one crappy pic)

Grim,

We are planning on making this kit for all of the "popular" rearends(10,12,D60,etc....) It will depend alot upon how well the 14 bolt kit does though. I will make sure CK5 is the first to hear about any new product developments.

Re: Flexed truck with A-tron bar (one crappy pic)

Sean
Is the kit adjustable so when you move the rear axle location, front/back, spring height etc. it can be set up properly?
I have this habit of moving things around. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Re: Flexed truck with A-tron bar (one crappy pic)

Steve and all CK5ers, We plan on some changes to the prototype that Rene has on his truck that will make it easier to install and allow for later modifications that we all know will come along. Rene's setup uses 1.50" DOM with .375" wall tube which provides great protection for the drive shaft but it is a bit of overkill. It also requires that you adjust the length of the tubes before welding it together with the back rollers at the differential. We plan on having 2 sizes of tube that slide inside of each other and allowing the installer to just have to drill and bolt cross holes that would lock the tubes together. This will allow us to weld everything before shipping the product. If we use a little lighter tube we will be able to cut the cost down also since the tube we used in Renes setup was about $125.00 for the tube alone. Once we have verified everything works as planned we will offer the same setup for other axles. By the way one question that keeps coming up is how does it articulate without binding. We have two large stainless steel/heat treated eye bolts that are threaded into the ends of the 1.50" tube at the shackle end of each tube. This allows the tubes to rotate with the articulation of the axle. The shackle allows movement forward and backward with the verticle movement of the springs and the triangulation stops rotation of the axle. It seems to work fine so far.

Re: Flexed truck with A-tron bar (one crappy pic)

Steve, there is enough thread in the end of the bars that i could move the axle 2" in either direction without anything more than an adjustment./forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Bill, I arranged a couple of hours of ramp time for Saturday afternoon...daylight is so much better for pic's of a black truck. I'll get some solid before and after RTI numbers and some much better pic's. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Looking good. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
I cant wait till it is ready for sail. Give it a good test for us.

Re: Flexed truck with A-tron bar (one crappy pic)

I never did hear if he found out who stole it. I really doubt he'd be able to find out though. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif
