I'm in the market for a new 3-4 ton floor jack for my k5 and other vehicles. Anyone have any good recomendations? -I once bought a new floor jack and let it set for a year after using it once, and went to use it again, and it was toast, not trying to make the same mistake again.was told also to stay away from the harbor freight ones... Anyone? Thanks all!

I have had good luck with harbor freight ones.

I bought the low profile one some time ago because oddly enough it lifts the highest out of all their jacks. Moving a truck while it was jacked up, I bent the jack, still works but i plan to weld some stuff on to make it straight again and much stronger.

watch the sears and now k mart sales adds. every now and then Sears sells a 3 ton jack with jack stands and creeper for 100 bux :waytogo:

I've had the same off brand $50 one from the swap meet for about 15 yrs.. damn thing still works perfect and I'm not easy on it...

Not to cause rucuss ,but,I did a search here and a lot of guys have gone thru several HF jacksi don't know..

I really do think in the lower end of the jack market ( where almost all of us are looking) its a crap shoot.

I have seen a couple jacks that were 250 to 300 brand new and everything about them was nicer than the lower end jacks I was used too.

Thats why I tend to go with HF stuff in this situation its usually the cheapest

88jimmy4x4 made a post about buying a 3.5 ton for around a hun, and it was a NICE looKing jack too , at a place called northern tool, but I don't see that offer anymore

We still have one at costco i think. 100 bucks and low profile with a nice high lift.

If it messes up just take it back.

it looks just like that, but red.

i will try and take a pic tommorow for you
sweet! I'm really just looking for a good jack I can rely on.- don't really like the idea of a crap shoot. Lol. If anyone else has iNput please chime in.there aren't many floor jack threads...

See if your Sam's Club still carries the blue "Michelin" one. It's like 2.5 pumps to the top and does 24". I've got two, and one lives outside in Alaska and is almost 10 years old now.

Costco one looks like a pretty good deal too. Both places have a great return policy.

Check with napa, every now and then they have a tool sale called
"Real.deals"

Last one I.bought was 275 and came with real nice stands it was 3.5 ton, low profile and way strong. Only buy when on sale, cuz list price is ridiculous

Two bad things tho,

It didn't want to work in 0 degree weather, and I blew one out lifting a 30 foot motorhome.... both I shouldn't have been doing

I bought one of those jack/stand combo kits from Lowes once, lasted 7 months, the jack quit working, Went to Sears bought a black 4 ton floor jack for just a tad over $100/150 or so, works great never had a problem with it, had it for a couple of years so far.
