Just read through a couple different floor liner threads and they got me wondering.

Has anyone ever used some sort of insulation/sound deadening material and then done a spray in liner on top of it? Would that even work? I was thinking along the lines of Dynamat type stuff that is adhesive on one side. Could you spray some Als liner on it? Would it stick to it and be durable? What say you ck5ers?

i dunno seems like it would be a little risky, the insulation backing is usually nonporous so it might be hard to get it to stick, those liners are designed to adhere to metal surfaces i believe

No, it would not work. It might stick to it, but I really don't think it would be a good idea.

BUT, Al's Liner has great sound deadening properties to it. I have a local guy who I sold a few gallons to that said his road noise is virtually nonexistent anymore in his 95 Z28. And this was before he reinstalled the carpet over it. He also has longtubes and open exhaust on it and he said it quieted it down a ton. To quote him "Idle noise and road noise is 100% better with the Al's in the car"

I'm about to spray some in our 98 Trans Am and take before and after db readings to show how good it really is.

Wont work, those spray on and roll on, need something to adhere to. Sound deadening would just end up being a big ole mess. Ive got line x in my interior and the sound isnt that bad at all. Its one of those things you get use to. If you are doing bed liner to the interior there is a reason your doing it, like your going off roading , etc etc. If you want quiet, stick to carpet and take your chances.
