i had no floor mat for the last 10 years, didn,t want floor to rust again.girlfriend finds it too dirty and noisy .thinking of get the 1/8 thick molded industrial polyvinyl (mip) floor map, from lmc .anybody ever buy it and did it fit good, and are you happy with it?

i haven't used the lmc carpets, but personally i prefer using carpet remnants 3 individual pieces for a reg cab. insulates cheap and easy to take out to clean. if you wanted to make it really nice you could take it to a carpet shop and have them run a border around the pieces. anyways just a thought.

I've heard nothing but bad to "eh" about the LMC mat.. fits lousy from what I've seen.. maybe with a heat gun, etc...

I used flat truck bed mat.. 1/4 thick, works killer.. just on the flats tho, no trans tunnel...

you really wanna quite it down.. do insulation and NICE carpet..

I had the LMC rubber mat in my Blazer. It was a big ole PITA, I didnt cut it perfectly and it thru off all the dimensions. I yanked it and went with
LINE X and just use floor mats for driver and passenger.

To me, its either OEM carpet or some kind of bed liner, no inbetween.

The LMC mat fit just fine. Just be sure and install it on a hot sunny day. Let it lay in the sun and heat up and get soft. It will go right in. Only trimming was on each side in front, about 1/2" trimmed and about six inches in the rear where it's too long.

The LMC MIP "kit" is basically one big honkin' sheet of vinyl that's sort of molded to a shape vaguely unlike your truck's floor. It is a bit big in all dimensions (which is good -- far better than being too small!) so expect to trim it.

No cutouts are provided for floor shifters, so that the same kit can work for 2WD or 4WD or whatever trucks. You therefore must be careful when you cut it ;) At least you can just use scissors since it's relatively thin.

I put one in my CUCV 'cuz the original one was worn out. It was a fair approximation of the original, and was affordable and relatively simple to install. As mentioned, heat helps. IIRC I left it out in the spring sun for a day to unroll, and then installed it of an afternoon.

Like any interior work it's manually intensive, so don't expect to just drop it in and roll. You'll have to remove all the trim, shifter boot and console, etc, and of course the seats. Then you wrestle the thing, get it situated just right, and start measuring and trimming and measuring... ;)

Finally, I don't know that the rubber dampens sound at all. It *might* block heat some, but it's 1/8" thick and pretty dense, so it'll transfer heat eventually. (After you put it in the sun you'll know what I mean :haha: )

I'd put down a layer of that reflective bubble-wrap stuff for heat insulation; for noise and heat you might instead use the thick fibrous carpet underlayment stuff. :dunno:

I'm running the LMC MIP mats and thney are ok, but way too expensive for what they are. The molding on mine was nearly non-existant so it doesn't fit well except in the flat areas.

I ordered my LMC vynil mat for a 4 wheel drive. when I installed it I realized the new cab I got was a 2 wheel drive and that the tunnel in a 4x4 is a good 3-4 inches higher. I trimmed out strips on both sides of the tunnel to get it to lay nice then covered the seams with strips of aluminum. Transfercase clearance was not a problem due to the "3 body lift, incase anyone was wondering.

thanks for the replies .i ain,t putting carpet ,because they get dirty too much. i wanted something that wash easy.it says it comes with 36once jute padding for the front part as insulation . didn,t any off you guys get that with yours.it says to lay mat unfolded for 48hours at room temperature before installing.

I also didn't use the pad since it works like a big sponge to hold water and the old stuff was rusting out my floor.

Funny, I bought the LMC kit and it did NOT come with padding... they musta changed vendors at some point. It's also gone up $30 or so since I bought it.

Yeah, if you're worried about moisture, the reflective bubble-wrap would prolly work better than the jute padding stuff. Mind you, I *swear* LMC used to sell that stuff too, and they don't list it now, nor does JC Whitney... :doah:

what is bubble wrap ? is it like the plastic stuff that is used for packing box? didn,t care much for the padding ,i remember when i repaired the floor and pulled the old carpet. how about the finish does it wrinkle ?did you guys use the rear too.

I did not put the pad under mine, didn't want anywhere for water to hide and do it's thing.

The mill spec TB 43-0213 for rustprofing them says
(6) Floormat.
(a) After removing floormat, discard padding and apply nonslip flight deck compound (NSN 5610-00-782-5556 l-gal. kit).
(b) Install rubber mat without padding.
