I have the standard cracks in the floor and plan on welding the cracks then putting a small section of steel over where the crack was and stitch welding that piece in place to help spread the load. It will be my first crack repair.

Can you guys walk me through the steps?

I know I need to drill holes at the end of the cracks but dont know how big of a bit to use.

Then grind a V groove to the best of my ability. Then spray with brake clean and wipe dry. Next I start to weld the crack? Can I just wekd from the top or do I NEED to weld it from both sides?

Where do I clamp my ground to? Anything I need to worry about?

What about the under coating and grease and stuff on the bottom of the tub?

I've never seen a floor crack. Maybe around here they just rust away too fast.

Drill each end of it with an 1/8" bit, clean with a wire wheel and weld er up. no brake cleaner. Ground to clean sheet metal close to where you are welding. Anything on the underside will burn off.

Jesus dude, I dropped the ball on this one. I was wondering why I never heard back from you in PMs, turns out I never replied. I typed a reply out, I guess I failed to send it. I dont know much about sheetmetal welding, but if there's anything I can do to help you out let me know.

The drivers floor was broke out on mine when I got it. What I did was beat and bend the metal back close to original as possible then tack welded it in place. I then welded it solid from the top only. I then formed a sheet of 16 ga. sheet metal to fit over the area under the seat and welded it down. Don't forget to cut out holes for the seat anchor bolts. The undercoating burned off underneth, and when I finished just wire brushed the loose stuff off and used spray can undercoating to recoat. Be sure and put some bolts in the seat anchor bolt holes before welding.

Sweet. Thanks for the step by step. I have all the same supplies.

Did you not drill holes at the ends of the cracks?
