I just recently bought my first K5 and it was already dualed out with flowmasters. I normally run the super 44's, it sounds good but this doesn't sound like a super 44 to me. Is there anyway to tell what muffler it is?

Measure it maybe and compare it to the specs on Flowmasters site?
in let / outlet end will have a part # stamped in to it like a old dod matrix printer . ......... little pin marks like that to make up the part #

Yep. read the part number off it (newer ones are stamped across the face, IIRC), and type it into google.

IMO super 44s sound sweet.
Reg flowmaster 40s... Sound like poop IMO. Lots of cackling under load unless you have a sweet motor.

I won't argue whether they give the best performance. A lot of opinions on that one, but the sound is intoxicating.

Yeah I love the 44s also. I will be changing to the super 44s after I get some other more important issues fixed. I can't drive anything with stock mufflers, I need some sound or i'll fall asleep lol but for now its better than nothing haha.

x2 on the 70s and the getting old. Quiet at idle and cruise but still sound great on the gas.

OP, are you keeping these or what is your plans?
and don't let a muffler end under a body / truck box.
I found this out as I put a tail pipe on my plow truck after the muffler rusted off and I put on a 50series flowmaster. then figured 1 chunk of pipe cheep and clean it up. WOW
could I hear my self think at highway speed now . no more harmonic drone in the cab anymore . just by making the exit of the muffler just to the end of the bumper with a turn down on it. 
in flowmasters the less harmonic you want in the cabin area = higher flowmaster # and delta flow also helps a bit also .

OP, are you keeping these or what is your plans?
I think for now I'll probably just stick with what I got, but down the road I would like to change them out to super 44s.

I knew a guy with a mid 80's Chevy pickup, 350 with DUAL 3" pipes and 40 something series Flowmasters, that thing was obnoxiously loud.
Then another guy with a Saleen copy Mustang with single chamber Flowmasters, sounded better than the 40's on the Chevy, still crazy loud but in a different tone.

I don't like the 50 series. I had one on my 383. The 40 had too much drone but sounded good on a mild build. I now run the Super 44 in 3" single with a cat, on my built 406. It has less drone and is deeper sounding than the 40. It is very nice, but sometimes too loud. Towing a heavy trailer can get very loud.
My K5 has the 70 series. It idles pretty quiet, but nice sounding and has a nice subtle performance sound when you get on it. Stock mufflers are annoying sounding and sometimes more noticeable.
The 50 series sounds too much like a rice burner or wanna be performance truck. The 80 series is nasty sounding..........in a bad way. My brother had them on his transam. The 40 is absolutely horrible on anything less than a nicely built v8, such as a 4 banger toyota baha truck.

On the short piping of the blazer, I have always found the 50 series about perfect.
Wish i had gone 40 or 44 on my burb though.

Anyone happen to have a good sound clip of a blazer on super 44s? Can't seem to find a good one. Mine is an 89' so something close to that year would be nice.
