I went to summit to order my Flowtech headers for my 89-suburban http://www.summitracing.com/parts/BIG-91830FLT/ They are on back order and don't know when they will be avilable again. So i ordered the summit version. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G9014/ . I just wanted to know if anyone has run the summit header?

My plan is to remove the O2 bung and weld up the hole and have the headers bead blasted and hi-temp coating done. I can do the welding and blasting myself, we get alot of coating work done where i work so it should be cheap.

I had some flowtechs, they were pretty nice, mine were full length and needed some tweaking to get around the shackle spring, but since your using shorties, shouldnt be a problem. Are you going from Cast Manifolds to headers? If so, you may encounter some issues if you have A/C and the A/C bracket, where it bolts to the block via header bolts. so if you remove your old manifolds, dont just start tossing the bolts, you may need them or atleast one or two.

Just make sure to test fit them before doing any welding and coating. I realize this may be a pain if your truck is a DD but it would be better to find out they dont fit before you put any effort into them.

My brother had a set of the summit brand headers on a 01 Dodge ram 2500, when they arrived the box was a flow tech box, we double checked the order form and he did order the summit brand headers and paid the cheaper price, in the pictures they look identical as well. They did fit great, worked with the stock y pipe and sounded good.

I put summit headers on a '79 K10 with a 305... no complaints. Sledheadak owns that truck now, haven't heard him bitch about any headers yet :D

Thanks guys, I figured they would be re badged flowtechs. Will see when they get here next week.

I'll keep ya all posted...

Got the headers today.

Made by Pace setter.... I'll post pics at a later date...:haha::haha:

how come you cut off the O2 sensor bung? I'm keeping mine. Down the road I would like to have FI. Even before that, I would like to get a sensor and A/F gauge to nail down the carbs mixture.

Because using the 88-95 truck headers on our rigs the 02 bung is aimed directly at the drivers side frame rail and cannot be used. You have to put an 02 bung in the pipe just below the collector instead.

I first used these headers 13 years ago on my first blazer.
