my truck has a mind of its own.....when i start the thing,it idles real high(choke) i know this is normal.when i hit the gas slightly after warm up,it will go down a little, but its never quite right,it always seems to fast. However, once in a while it will go way down,to a nice idle witch seems normal.I was thinking a loose distibuter??I dunno,help...oh,its an 85,with all the old Atari type computer stuff.

I concur, vacuum leak. Lookat the simple areas first. Tighten carb and intake bolts. Then start checking hoses etc /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

yeah it does have a once in awhile BACKFIRE when i shut the truck down.....could this be internal carb problems???someone looked at the carb not too long ago,and said i needed new bushings or seals inside, and that what was causing the backfire/vacum when i turn off the truck.i JUST got through re-doing the intake gaskets too, like 2 mo ago.??????what is the obvious???since i JUST re did the intake???
