I was doing some work on my 1981 K10 changing fluids in the 3 speed manual transmission and 12 bolt rear today (I didn't quite make it to the front end...tomorrow). I've always been told, fill the axles to the fill plug. After looking at the factory shop manual, and filling it to that amount and it was just about the same. I've never really known how much to fill the transmission to. I filled to the amount the factory manual specs and the fluid level is a little over an inch below the fill plug. Should the fluid be up to the fill plug like the axle or is that alright? Thanks!
