I have a 81 sub with a 350 th350 208. I just bought a 205 to swap in. My question is about fluids. I know the engine oil stays in the engine but I think I heard that the fluid will migrate between the tranny and tcase. Is this true? If so then I assume you should put the same fluid in both the tranny and tcase. What is a good fluid (if price isn't a factor)? Also since you are hear how do you know the spline count on the front output shaft? I know chevy had a 10 spline and a 30 spline version. I dont know the year of the tcase because I bought it loose (it will actually be delivered next week). Any help would be great, thanks!

They shouldn't swap fluids if the seals and such are in good shape.

ya, the adapter/connector shouldnt have fluid in it if the seals are good and for fluid, just use some say, mobile 1 or royal purple gear oil, and to tell if its a 10 or 32 spline(i think 32 is the number) just look at the shaft that goes from the tranny to the T case. im not 100% sure but i believe the 32 spline tranny/t-cases dont have the collar to connect them like the 10 spline does.

thanks for the info so far but I am not talking about the spline count between the tranny and tcase that is 27 spline because I have a th350 trans. I am talking about the front output shaft for the front drive shaft.
