What do you guys do with used fluids? Oil/filter are easy, can be dropped of various places.

My issues is coolant, brake fluid, trans fluid. I end up with a TON of trans fluid from changing it on boats.

Where do you guys take it to recycle? None of the places around me will take it.

Thanks!

I burn most of it in my truck. Brake fluid I take to the local hazardous waste facility to be taken care of. They just mix it with peet moss and bury it

Usually there are regional hazardous waste facilities which will take fluids for a fee. If you have a good relationship with a local auto repair shop sometimes they will take it as well.

Santa Clara County which I live in offers a free waste recycle program to residents, you just have to call to schedule a drop off time. Maybe Yolo has something like that too?

If you or someone you have has an oil burning heater. A lot of shops have them anymore. Most of the time they are glad to take it off you hands when it cold and going through oil a lot.

autozone usually has oil recycling, and I've had them take tranny fluid off my hands before too. No idea on the other stuff.

Lol what a bunch of clowns... atf will burn and process just the same as oil...

Just mix it with engine oil to blacken it when you go or as said goto advanced auto or auto zone.

We mix all oils and brake fluid, and only have to pay for disposal for solvent , and coolant/ waste water. All the out of state boys without such stringent smog requirements that allow waste oil burners I envy you. It gets colder than a witches tit, and we have to propane heat the little area you work in,and move it when you move, it sucks.

everything goes to Oreilly auto around here. Coolant, mixed with oil, atf, muddy gear oil, ........ I just drop off my 5 gallon buckets of mixed fluids and they dump it into the tank. They don't care what you give them.

atf / gear oil / motor oil / brake fluid / all oil based oils just mix as one and recyclee it. at the shop i work at we have 2 waste oil heaters for winter heat. and can store around 2500 gal :eek1: then truck shop out back can store almost 2000 gal :eek1: for there giant waste oil heater.

basicly free winter heat. hell old gas or deisel fuel also burn just fine if mixed with the oil in moderation.
