anyone use it? I know its pricy, but is it worth it? From what i understand we just use the part number for the hummer H1 application with the 6.2/6.5.

It has become accepted in the diesel community that crank failure in 6.2/6.5 GM engines can be attributed at least in part to harmonic damper failure (the rubber on the stock ones rots and the damper becomes ineffective). Once the stock damper fails, the harmonics tear the crank apart over time.

The fluidamprs don't wear out in a normal lifetime, and they do a better job of damping than a new stock unit.

I've got one on order from Summit now...

While the fluidampr may be a great unit, the growing consensus is that crank failure is related to poor casting techniques and alloys causing internal flaws. A good crank will have a bit of a ring to it when you tap it, a flawed crank will sound dead even if it's not broken. I've seen many broken cranks with perfectly good factory balancers on them, and i've never bought a new balancer.

IMO, if you're building the engine you're far better off buying a brand new Scat crank for $400 to $500, it's not that much more expensive than a FD and a MUCH better investment.
