While the fluidampr may be a great unit, the growing consensus is that crank failure is related to poor casting techniques and alloys causing internal flaws. A good crank will have a bit of a ring to it when you tap it, a flawed crank will sound dead even if it's not broken. I've seen many broken cranks with perfectly good factory balancers on them, and i've never bought a new balancer.
IMO, if you're building the engine you're far better off buying a brand new Scat crank for $400 to $500, it's not that much more expensive than a FD and a MUCH better investment.
