After practically tearing my gas filler off on a tree (okay several trees) I figured I'd do away with it.

Not done but it's a good start for a day of working outside in 15 degree weather.

Cut it out of a Ranger bed.

That will look pretty good when you get done. I want to do the same to mine, but I have to get it on the road first.

Did you just put a FERD gas door on you Chevy? :eek1: :eek1: :eek1: :D

It looks good though. Post up pics when it's all done.

Yep. :D

Parts is parts and this one fit the bill. :smirk:

Waiting for the fuel cell to get here, then I'll install/finish everything at the same time.

the surrounding sheetmetal was cut out of a tahoe, it had a round flipper door and that was fabbed into the body. The door is from amp research it is the same one that was used on the the ultimate avalanche pickup that peterson's 4 wheel and off road had on the pickup for ultimate adventure a couple years ago. The door is actually made for a ford superduty (Sorry guys)

70jimmy, that's what I wanted to do but I couldn't pass up free. :D

Always liked the way yours came out, nice job. :waytogo:

Yep like most stuff pricey but cool looking. The body shop took the door to a junk yard and went hunting for what it (the outer ring) fit into. They took all the parts and jimmy rigged it to work.

I still want to do a little work to the filler tube as it flows a little up hill underneath to the tank.

Bad pics, end of the day with low light buts it's in and epoxy primered.

Looks good man. I'm glad you update over here as well. I don't post at all on that other board anymore. I'm such a baby.

That looks nice, what does the inside look like?

Bill

Was able to rework the stock filler neck enough to reuse it.
I'm also going to reuse the original interior filler neck cover plate, so it will look totally stock from the inside.

This flush gas door is tied into my fuel cell project that I had a chance to get test fit, just waiting for the rubber filler hose to come in for final install.

Better daytime pic of the fill door.

Came out okay IMO, looks like it belongs there for the most part.

Last pic shows what it will look like inside when finished and buttoned up.
