I painted my recently installed roll cage and wanted to leave the doors open to air it out. I disconnected the battery to prevent it from being drained to death, but the freakin overhead light in the cab continued to burn!!? I even disconnected the positive terminal too and it kept burning--what gives?

check and see if there is a lemon with two forks stuck in it somewhere on the truck.

other than that...pull the bulb.

I don't get it. I'm for real here. Why won't that bulb go out when I disconnect the batt? I'm new to chevys, but damn!

honestly..... i have no idea. Unless there is some sort of short and feedback, feeding energy to some form of capacitor for somethign else that is acting as a battery.

that or the dome light is powered by AA batteries...... Is that a possibility? I know my CUCV didnt have a dome light, the PO installed one but had to run wiring from the dash up into the roof and to the spot he drilled a hole to install the bugger.

other than that, its time to pull out the test light and voltmeter and get to trackin. How long have you owned the truck? is there a second battery hooked up somewhere? maybe a trunk mounted battery?

thats weird as hell.all power should go out when the battery is removed.gotta be a outside power source.

Doh! I'm a dumbass! I hate to admit it and probably shouldn't. But, I have an optima batt. I disconnected the winches on top--left the truck connected on the side terminals. Yeah, I know what I'm doing.

Glad you figured it out, though I wished you hadn't before I was able to suggest disconnecting the Mr. Fusion. :D :haha:

Great Scott!!! Glad you found it before ripping the truck to pieces searching for a short or something.
