Flywheel help!

1986+ Sbc used 14” flywheel? Crazy, just learned me something new. I thought only the 400 used a 14”

No truck applications used the 153 tooth flywheel , unless it was some early C10 application with a 3-spd or something weird like that.

Early small blocks like 283's and 307's sometimes had the smaller 153 tooth flexplate, also straight sixes, and the starters had the "straight across" bolt pattern, the larger flexplates used the "staggered" bolt pattern starter nose..

As for manual trans flywheels,I have only seen a few old straight sixes and the above noted small blocks use a 10.5" clutch setup with a 3 on the tree and the small diameter flywheel,in some late '60's and early '70's trucks..

A friend had a '92 305 from a Firebird in his '86 Monte Carlo SS when he bought it,the flywheel on that engine was small, and different than most of the other SBC ones after '86 I have seen with the one piece rear main seal, this one was externally balanced,I have seen other SBC of '86 up vintage that were internally balanced--things get weird after they changed that year I guess..it used to be all you needed to know was if it had a one or two piece rear main, and the number of teeth or diameter..
Then there is the issue with the converter bolt pattern, you have to be sure to get the right one to bolt up to the converter..
I'm wondering if you can still get one for a two piece rear main to fit the 6 bolt converter used in diesels and HD gas powered trucks,I may need one if I swap a SBC in place of the 6.2..
