flywheel question

Hi
just bought a 73 blazer /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif with a 396 BBC out of a "69 chevelle" according to PO
current drivetrain is th350-np203... and im looking to convert to an sm465-np205 i have
so my question is what flywheel will i need? will the basic flywheel for a BBC/sm465 combo work? or do i need something specific to this engine /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

396 should be a internally balanced engine so a stanard flywheel is what you need.

so the normal 454 flywheel will work?

no, 454 is externally balanced. A 396/402 is the only factory big block that is internally balanced(that i am aware of). You need a 396 flywheel.

427 is internally balanced too.

Well, the early 454s are externally balanced. The later versions are internal balanced. I think its around 90 and newer. Dont ask me how I found this out! Its a long story. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
