I'm trying to bolt up my TH350 to my SBC 350...I recently decided to ditch the 700R4 in favor of the TH350. The problem I'm having is that when I press the TC all the way into the TH350 housing, the brackets on the TC are about 1/4-1/2" away from the flywheel mounting holes. I'm trying to figure out a solution to this problem. I thought about welding some longer brackets on the TC but I think that might throw the balance off.

So I'm open to suggestions. The only other info I can think of is that the motor was carbed while the transmission came behind a TBI motor...not sure if that makes a difference. TIA.

:D

That is actually ok to have that clearance. Go ahead and pull the converter up to the flexplate and bolt it up.

The converter will still be engaged in the pump and will still seal up on the neck of the converter.

That is the way it should be. If it were the other way around (no clearance between the flexplate and convertor) you would damage the trans pump and or convertor.

There is a bonus to this extra clearance... when installing both a rebuilt motor and transmission at the same time, you can leave the torque converter disconnected and break the motor in first, then switch your attention to the transmission after the motor is ready without burning up the fresh transmission.
