I was driving home from town and all of the sudden my truck doesn't seem to want to shift out of 2nd I think. I have an automatic tranny. I have no clue what happened. Any ideas?

Make sure you're not going into 2nd, instead of drive. A friend of mine's truck actually says it's in 1st when it's in drive.

Pull the governer gear cover.
I bet it's all stripped out.

Iirc, that's what causes 1st gear and no upshifts.

Step 1 - check the fluid. If its low, that'll cause it, see if it smells burnt.
******** The fluid should be a translucent pink color, not cloudy or brownish.

Step 2 - check your shift linkage.

Step 3 - check the Governer Gear.

I bet it's a stripped governer.

But, "Rebuilt" tranny's, are usually "eh".
I just rebuilt DRemu's CORRECTLY, and the guy before me had put all the wrong shims in.
Yep... Rebuilt.

That's yer throttle valve cable.

It dictates how much pressure yer transmissions clutches get.
Less with lower throttle, more with heavier throttle.

If its too loose, you'll burn yer tranny up, in short order.

My money is still on the governor though.
Loose tv cable, usually cause slipping or sloppy shifts.

You need that cable to be connected to your carb throttle linkage.

Your tranny is prolly effed if its a 700r4
