I've been watching "Overhaulin'" all day....am I the only one that thinks that while Foose and his crew do a great job...I just don't like what he does to cars....I guess I just like stock too much.

my views on what he builds are well known in this forum...

What sucks is that I was watching all day and thought to myself...."That's some fine paint and body work, and very nice motors they are putting in there....but I would be pissed if he overhauled my Blazer like that"....even meeting "A.J." would not make up for the loss...

well, while I have one side of me that likes stock stuff, and have an appreciation for it in muscle cars, I also have that other side that loves full blown custom and finds "stock resto" stuff boring and very simple.. without a ton of respect from me, having done it for a living... due to it's lack of creativity and outside the box thinking.. any monkey can put part a and part b together..

the glovebox in my K5? more ingenius than anything Foose has EVER come up with... while he draws a good car, they're all the SAME car.. end of story.. same stance, same design styling, etc, etc...

here's an example....

a blasphemous, hideous offering imo...

yet, here's a custom muscle car that I find badarse.....

I'm with ya on the types of cars I like. Stock resto I find boring. All about Pro Street bad assness.

Oh...and there is testosterone dripping from that Chevelle....:eek1: it looks like a bull shark in attack posture

I like foose's designs for the most part. and he does them right. Not many short cuts. But IMHO any full out cut up custom should be done on trashed rotted out cars. Your cutting them up anyway so a little extra body work isnt a big deal. Nice straight muscle with little to no rust should be RESTORED and left stock or real close too it. I like them ALL realy though :dunno::haha:

My very favorite year Chevelle of the 68 to 72's is the 68'. I had a 68' SS 396 Chevelle when I was 18. Man do I miss that car. This Chevelle in the vid would be a dream car for me. Black and straight as hell, and full of pure bad ass muscle. Enjoy. IF I ever can afford to buy another hot rod, it WILL be a 68' Chevelle or 68' El Comino. I had one of those too with a BB chevy in it.

If I was good at it and had the money I would need two of every project...because I would always want one of them to be bone stock...and have the other one to try mods on....

I think for my project, restoring to stock was a requirement...it is what I always wanted...I already had the image and criteria set for what it had to look like...and it's also a "childhood" thing...getting in the restored Blazer is almost like a time capsule....

but...if I ever did another one I would want to try some mods...I love what that John guy did with his suburban...that makes me want to find one and chop one up...

But on the stock side....look at this photo...how could you dare cut on this???

dang I wish I lived close enough to get you to finish my Blazer...you do paint very nicely...if I had 10 grand I would just flat bed it to you...

thanks....

that pic doesn't do the car justice whatsoever... that color was my own creation.. 3/4 blue pearl.. no metallic.... it inadvertantly turned purple under sodium lights, pretty freaky.. :eek1: all graphics under the clear.. like glass...

I saw a 1966 or 67 firebird at the storage facility last week...didn't have a camera with me...next time I go up there I will take my camera...body looks nice from a distance...looks green

I like a lot of his cars from overhaulin, the 66? Nova was nice, but they start out stock nice also. Either way, there are some cars like this one that I'd give my left nut for. I think they would be easier to drive every day than some track queen or something with an identy crisis. New drive train and suspension would be nice. I have to agree about cutting up good cars into something different, start with a rust bucket or at least not a factory optioned out car.

Edit: opps, kinda big :(
